Escape the Auckland Grey: Colour, Creativity & Connection at Art Escape NZ
Updated: Sep 23
When the Auckland weather turns grey, it's the perfect time to add some colour to your weekend. Whether you're looking for indoor activities for kids, a unique date idea, or a fun team-building session, Art Escape NZ is your go-to destination — rain, shine, or anything in between. Located in Newmarket, our studio is a warm, welcoming space where people of all ages can get messy, have fun, and reconnect through creative expression — no art skills needed.
Indoor Activities for Families & Kids in Auckland
Let's be honest — keeping kids entertained indoors isn't easy. That's why our family-friendly art workshops are designed to be as fun for adults as they are for little ones. From splatter art to fluid bears to hand-building your own piece of pottery, kids get to explore colour, clay and creativity in a way that's totally hands-on — and best of all, you don't have to clean up!
Creative Date Nights
Dinner and a movie? Been there. Done that. If you're after a unique date night idea in Auckland, Art Escape offers creative experiences that bring couples closer — through laughter, paint, and just the right amount of mess. Our cosy, indoor studio is the perfect spot any time of year. Book a private painting workshop, or slow things down with our hand-building Pottery or Coffee Cup Pottery sessions — shape, decorate and take home something you made together.
Team Building & Corporate Workshops That Actually Work
Ditch the awkward icebreakers and try something that gets your team genuinely engaged. Our corporate workshops combine colour, creativity, and collaboration — perfect for breaking up the 9-to-5 routine. We offer weekday bookings tailored to your team's needs, with flexible packages and mobile options for offsite events. Plus, creating something together (and laughing through the process) is one of the best ways to build morale.
Celebrating Something Special? We Host Parties Too!
Birthdays, hens nights, anniversaries — we love a celebration. Art Escape parties are all about fun, connection, and leaving with something you actually want to keep. Our hosted events make it easy for you to relax and enjoy the moment. Bring your crew, your snacks, and your sense of adventure. We'll handle the rest.

New: Hand-Built Pottery Workshops
Our newest addition to the studio — hand-building pottery, no wheel required. Choose from our original Pottery workshop and build your own piece. Every piece is decorated with underglazes and fired food-safe, so you leave with something you'll actually use. We also run dedicated Little Makers Pottery and Junior Makers Pottery sessions for kids and families during the school holidays.
