Celebrate Matariki 2026 in Auckland with a Glowing Painting Experience

There's something quietly powerful about Matariki. The stars reappear in the winter sky, and with them comes an invitation — to pause, to reflect, and to come together with your whanau.

This year, the Matariki public holiday falls on Friday 10 July 2026, and at Art Escape NZ in Newmarket, we're marking it in the most fitting way we know — by painting in the dark with glowing paints..

Fluid Art 6pm - 7pm
Fluid Art 6pm - 7pm
Splatter Art 7.30pm - 8.30pm
Splatter Art 7.30pm - 8.30pm

Our Matariki Night Glowing Paint Party on 10 July gives you the chance to create your own piece of the cosmos using fluid art and splatter art techniques. You don't need to be an artist. You don't need experience. You just need to show up, and we'll guide you through the rest.

It's a beautiful way to honour the spirit of Matariki — a time for remembrance, celebrating the present, and looking to the future. And what better way to do that than with your hands, some paint, and a room full of people doing the same thing.

Sessions run at 6pm (Fluid Art) and 7:30pm (Splatter Art). Spots are limited and filling fast.

Whether you're looking for Matariki events in Auckland, a creative night out, or simply something meaningful to do on the long weekend — this one's for you.

👉 Book your spot — before they're gone.
